Philippines to acquire BrahMos. Targets China

BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd's $374.9 million proposal for a Shore-based Anti-Ship Missile System Acquisition Project has been selected by the Philippines, boosting India's defence export potential. Officials at BrahMos have received a Notice of Award from the Philippines' Department of National Defense. In order to respond to the award notice, BrahMos Aerospace had 10 days to do so. INS Visakhapatnam recently tested a naval version of the BrahMos developed by India and Russia. Due to the epidemic, the Philippines was unable to deliver the BrahMos missiles on time. Indian defence equipment can be exported to Manila under a defence deal struck last year. India has received interest from countries in Southeast Asia including Vietnam and Indonesia in procuring BrahMos to protect their defence assets. The freshly commissioned stealth guided-missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam successfully test-fired an extended range sea-to-sea variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile on Tuesday. "From INS Visakhapatnam, an advanced sea-to-sea variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was tested today. According to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the missile "hit the designated target ship accurately." The successful test-firing proves the precision of the ship's combat system and armament complex, as well as a new capability provided by the missile to the Navy and the nation, according to the Navy. "This bodes well for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and gives the Navy another shot in the arm," the statement continued.  Mission readiness Congratulating scientists on the successful test-firing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on social media, “The robustness of Indian Navy mission readiness is reconfirmed today after the successful launc
